Twelve letters. Endless connections.

Dictionary and Solver Methodology

Understand how words are accepted, how solutions are found and what this preview can and cannot verify.

Word-list source

The preview uses word-list version 4.1.0, distributed under the MIT license. After retaining alphabetic entries of at least three letters and adding the verified word JAILBROKEN, it contains 274,014 entries. Inflections and uncommon words are included. This is not a claim to contain every English word.

Game validation

Words must contain at least three letters, use the board’s letters and change sides between consecutive letters. After the first submitted word, the next word must start with the previous ending letter. Finally, the word must be present in our dictionary.

Solver search

The solver filters the dictionary to words legal on the entered board. It checks words that cover all 12 letters and pairs whose connecting letters match and whose combined coverage includes all 12 letters. Up to 30 results are displayed.

Limits

The solver does not search longer chains or verify acceptance against NYT’s private word list. Daily puzzle ingestion is not connected. The game currently offers one sample board.
